    Role Summary/Description


    The Compensation Supervisor plans, supervises and coordinates work activities of the Compensation Analysts, ensuring efficient and accurate administration of assigned compensation programs.  The role provides the highest level of technical expertise, advice and consultation in the research, design and administration of compensation strategy and plan design for Southern Company.  The role consults with the HR Delivery organizations and their customers of assigned Operating Company (s) on the competitiveness, design, analysis and administration of current compensation programs.     • Educate HR Delivery and their customers on data analysis, trends and cost drivers. Builds case for change where necessary and influences stakeholders.
    • Support union negotiations and rate cases as needed

    Process Improvement

    • Research and recommend new and revised compensation strategies and plans

    • Provide leadership and expertise to the compensation analyst team in support of compensation strategy, process improvements, systems, policies and procedures

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

     

    Education:

    Experience:

    • 7-10 years of directly related work experience in job evaluation using a market pricing data base, compensation survey completion and analysis and general compensation is required.
    • 5-7 years’ experience directly managing people is required.

This key "hands-on" contributor will administer compensation and total rewards programs that help our client attract, retain, motivate, and manage their talent.     This position is responsible for leading the strategic design, implementation, administration and governance of US Employee Benefits, Wellness Programs and Compensation programs including salary, incentives, equity, sales and executive compensation.  Supports internal functions in all aspects of compensation, providing direction, guidance and thought leadership on compensation. Specific responsibilities include planning, recommending, and implementing new or modified benefits and wellness programs while managing the administration of existing plans to ensure regulatory compliance, and maximum program coverage while controlling costs for employees and the company and competitively positioning the company in the market.  This role will ensure all programs align with corporate business objectives and are fully compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements. Leads the benefits and compensation functions and accompanying teams with an emphasis on collaboration and education.     Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Minimum eight years' experience in Benefits Administration.
    • 4+ years relevant experience in Compensation with the ability to manage and operate at both a strategic and hands-on level as needed.
    • Expertise in designing and administering benefits programs and compensation plans, defined-benefit pension plan administration.
    • Comprehensive ability to communicate, influence, persuade, gain confidence of and advise senior management on sensitive issues regarding Benefits and Wellness.
    • Advanced Excel skills and experience with HR software.
    • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and at least four years of progressively responsible experience in compensation,. Extensive knowledge of compensation principles, practices, regulations, and laws (e.g., FLSA) is required. Experience using point-factor job evaluation techniques is required. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of Oracle HRIS, Halogen and Pay Factors software is desirable.  
    In lieu of education, directly related work experience can be substituted on a year for year basis.


    SUMMARY
    Administers wage and salary programs using automated systems. Plans and performs broad and varied assignments, including compensation studies, evaluations, cost and statistical analyses, and analyses of both hourly and salaried positions in order to prepare appropriate grade, pay, and other compensation recommendations. Works with management to design organizational structures, pay practices and/or strategies to increase MARTA’s organizational effectiveness.  Handles assignments of a complex nature. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
